L'académie du massacre - L'âge de bière |
] |
Pass it on, bitches!!!
We turn ALL LIGHTS AND ELECTRIC APPLIANCES OFF February 1st, from 19h55 to 20h00! (Eastern time)
Why?
Subject: URGENT : Action against global warming!
February 1st 2007: Participate to the biggest mobilisation against global warming! The Alliance for the Planet (group of environmental associations worldwide) send a mass message to populations worldwide, 5 minutes for the planet : everyone closes their lights on February 1st 2007 between 19h55 and 20h00 (Eastern time). This is not about saving 5 minutes of electricity, but to bring the problem up in the medias, to let people know about the urgency of the problem, and to let the Governments know that we as a people are agaist massive wastes of energy and that it's time for them to react and take action!
A 5 minutes break for the planet : it doesn't take long, it doesn't cost a thing, and it'll show the men and women we elected that global warming is an important matter that should be discussed more seriously in political debates.
Why Feb. 1st? On that date, in Paris, the new report on global warming hailing from the group of scientific experts at United Nations will come out. As this event takes place, the least we can do as citizens of Planet Earth is to bring as much attention to the issue as we can!
If every one of us participates, this action can take on real mediatic and political importance!
Please pass this on to family members, friends and to your whole network, not only on Myspace! Pass it on by email, on your website, anything that can make this bigger is more than welcome!
Contact/ information : Cyrielle, Les Amis de la Terre :00 33 1 48 51 18 95.

So as promised, here are some of the pictures taken during my 4 days adventure (previously described).
I must remind first that all those pictures were taken by ME and that if I see ANY of those on fuckin forums all over the world, I'll track you down and make you eat your own visceras for breakfast.
Now that this is clear, on with the picture fun!
( Party!! )
Also here's two short vids
This one's a short crappy caption of Angels don't Kill in Montreal on the 18th.
This one's from the tourbus, small video of the live Christmas Tree.

I didn't expect to have such a good excuse to post a review so late, really.. But considering the amount of driving and partying that has been involved in the endeavour of following Bodom on tour, good rest and a bit of time to screw my head back on my shoulders was needed.. MUCH needed :P
So here it is, a few days late, the approximately full review of 4 days on tour with the children from the lake Bodom and their friends.

Now!

That'll be it for now, I'll upload pics and vids tommorow, it's already 5am dammit! X___X

Go Sumo! - Leo |
] |
So to all of you reading this expecting a metal show review, ah HA! It's not. Pop rock on the menu tonight ladies and gents, a pretty good one too. Got a call last night, a certain someone invited me to yet another show by that band. At first, I was wondering if it wouldn't be better to stay home and rest, but I ultimately gave in. Close call, I could've missed a damn good show! I saw this band 4 or 5 times already, and out of all the shows I've seen, this one was the least crowded, but definetly the best!
So enough with that personnal shit no one cares about, on with the review!
The show started around 9:45 (was supposedly on a 8, but a pop rock show on time is like a plane not late, aka something you don't see that often..). Started out with my favourite song, the highly addictive and danceable Tatia, followed closely by LN1, another drug-like anthem. The peek of that song near the end would make an obese japanese wanna dance his fat ass off.
So LN1, then Utata. Weird thing to put those two back-a-back, considering the main riff in Utata sounds kinda sorta like LN1, but hell.. Some continuity, I guess! In any case, as one of people's favourite, it makes people dance just as much. (when there is people! haha ha ha.) Hm.. yeah. So LN2 follows Utata, bringing the mood down a little, just a little.
The sound was amazing, and on that show you could hear the bass a lot more, which added a nice feel to it. Dolls, which was up next, came out extremely good. Their sound is coming out so much more live as it does on album, the rock in pop/rock comes out more, it gives intensity to their perf. Which, between you and me, is always a good thing! The last LN, LN3, came rockin' next, followed by Can, taming the mood and making me worder why I only got up then! I felt kinda stupid swaying in front of the stage alone with 2 other people, but hell.. Leo ruled the problem out, making me wanna dance all over again!
The set ended with their latest song, Rancy (confirmation needed on the spelling). The ending of that song tonight ended the set with much intensity. The drumming was feverish, the vocals scorching, the guitars roaring with intensity. What an ending! Makes us forget the few small misses during the show.
Now there weren't many of those 'misses', only perhaps that guitar part during LN1, where one guitar was sorta off. Also perhaps the keyboards in Leo were not loud enough to hear, which is sad considering they're pretty important in that particular song. It made it sound heavier though, hence why it's not that much of a huge miss. Other than that, it was rather flawless. The drumming was particularly loud and always right on it, the bass was a lot more present, the voice was clear and strong, all in all, the band was on fire!
The setlist is very good, the only thing about it maybe would be the first two choices.. Now this is perhaps only a matter of perception, but seeing to it that Tatia is a very danceable song, I thought it would be better to have it played second to LN1, which would start the show beautifully. LN1 builds up slowly to a feverish ending, which would draw people on to ear more of that, so my thinking is Tatia would be like the cherry on the sunday after LN1! Would bring people on to the dancefloor!
So how about this.. review done, shameless publicity on! Go Sumo! Live at the Maison de la culture Maisonneuve this Friday December 15th! 4200 Ontario E., in Montreal (Pie-X Metro). Cost : 12$/10$students.
If you feel like dancing a bit, go see these guys, you'll have your money's worth! And if you like it, they just released a EP with 4 marvellous songs on it, only 5 bucks and you can dance on some Go Sumo! at home, isn't that wonderful? Of course it is.
Random fact: Did you know that Go Sumo! supports fat people wearing giant white diapers? Apparently, some people choose to support causes, like Greenpeace, but fat asian wrestlers are far more entertaining, aren't they! For any donations to the cause, see Jean-Charles, I'm pretty sure he'll be glad to handle them for you.
In the meantime, here's a sneak preview!

Into Eternity - Isolation |

I've really been off on LJ, now haven't I? I barely update anymore.. ah well.. I'll try and update a bit more in the next few months, since I'll be up to a LOT of stuff! Lots of shows to come, lots of reports to write :P
Now now, for tonight, what I got on the menu is : Profugus Mortis, Ashes of Eden, Atheretic, Necronomicon, Kataklysm, intense neck pain and a nice after show bash at the Saphir nightclub.
After the gig, we ended up at the Saphir, partying our ass off. We closed the bar (probably amongst the last 20 people to leave the place), and all ended up feasting at George Le Roi du Sous-Marin. Got home at 6am, poured myself into bed, and now I have the worse pain in my neck, but it's somehow satisfactory. It reminds me of how metal I am, I guess.. lol Or whatever the fuck makes it good to me, I feel and accept it as a reminder of all the fun I had! Next week: Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Gojira, Sanctity x4 !!!!!!! Huge motherfuckin roadtrip of hell, dudes and dudettes! Photos, complete summary and live report to come! (and I'll beat myself into doing it for real, and stop being a lazy biatch and procrastinator! If it's not up by next thursday, you'll all allowed to call me a big fat liar.)
Peace & Metal!

The Cranberries - When you're gone (don't ask..) |

I'm sharing those files over at metal_mp3, so I thought I'd post them on my own journal too. For all to enjoy :P
At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul (.rar, sendspace)
Dark Tranquillity - Character (.rar, sendspace)
Kalmah - Swampsong (.rar, sendspace)
Carnival in Coal - Collection Prestige (.rar, sendspace)
Slayer - God Hates us All (.rar, sendspace)
I think all those bands are big enough that I don't need to present them, except for Carnival in Coal, which I would describe as just plain weird metal. If you don't know them, you might be a little bit thrown off. But if black metal mized with jazz and funk peeks your curiosity, you're in for quite a ride.
Enjoy!

Wow, is it possible that I found time to update my LJ? :O It's gonna be a tiny update, since I have too much to tell and I don't really have enough time to make it elaborate :P So I finally managed to ask my boss for those two days off, one on November 13th for Hypocrisy & Fear Factory with Caro, and one on December 18th for Bodom . Which I will most likely, if everything goes well, see 3 nights in a row :P Yep yep, I'm almost officially driving up to Worchester MA, then to NYC, then back to Montreal with Steve and maybe Kao. It's gonna be awesome, Amon Amarth and Bodom 3 nights, I love my life.. xDD Oh! And Marc and Ernie will be there for the Montreal show, which brings more awesomeness to the whole thing. I also got two free tickets to that Metallica cover band, Alcoolica . These guys are really pretty good! Mylene's gonna come with me this time around. <3 Halloween partying was pretty sweet this year. We decided to go to the Foufs, since it was raining out and nothing else good seemed to be happenning anywhere else. We were supposed to be a few peoplez, but Momo dropped out, Cynthia dropped (so fuckin sad, really.. ¬_¬), Kao was too tired, so we ended up being me, Caro, Val and Mylene, which I recruited last minute. ^^ I met Julie there too, some girl I used to go to college with, and we ended up hanging out a lot. When I lost the other 3 in the crowd (which happenned when I was reaaally drunk, I started hanging out in the smoking area (which was outside and very small), and made a few friends ^^ In any case, they found me, that was the trick! (where's the first place you're gonna look for when looking for me? smoking room! lol) By that time, I'd drank 16 shots and 4 beers, it was time for me to stop.. lol (I was driving, eek!) We went to have some food, then me and Mylene were both 'mleh' to the idea of going back inside. Caro and Val still went back, we went to my car and listened to Billy Idol, Gilette and New Kids on the Block. XDD 90's greatness, always welcome to a drunk's ear! On wednesday night, after the job, I ended up joining Kao and Val at the Go Sumo show. (Kao's brother's band) These guys are good, but they played my favourite song first, when no one was even dancing yet.. So they lose a point. But it was still cool. ^^ More beer, more drugs, more poprock to dance to. Me was a happy lady. ^^ SO that appears to be it.. I still don't know what I'm gonna do on December 2nd for my b-day.. Road trip to see Anonymus in Jonquière, or party at home with a few friends? Hm... On a last note, here's two links. One to the most addictive online game ever, one to some hilarious website I fell upon yesterday, and that made me and Laurie laugh so hard we even cried!
So I'll leave you all on this.
Amen.

Sentenced - Farewell |

This weekend I'll try and post alll the pictures I didn't post out of laziness :P So expect a HUUUUUUUGE ass picture post.. :P
I've been feeling like shit for the past two days... I wonder what's up.. But in any case, I got my ticket for GWAR, I ordered a Warmen CD off ebay, and another from Amazon, L'Académie du Massacre . Good metal + good Quebec comedy = well.. good. :P I was supposed to go out tonight, but my friend called off, and I was sorta tired, so.. it's all good. I went to get a bubble tea and pick up Kao, we went to toke at her place. Was cool, relaxed, as usual. :P I realize I don't post as often as I'd like here.. Not that I have nothing to talk about, but I have too fuckin much! And I'm lazy.. A+B=C, y'know? ^^
I'll start checking out for University next September.. For now, I'm still saving up that money for an eventual trip to Europe/Scandinavia next summer/fall . It's going fine as of now ^^ I'm going shopping for shoes this Sunday, and URGH, I don't feel like it.. I wish I could go shop for clothes some more ^^ I desperatly need a new metal shirt, that's for sure.. I just dunno when I'll get around to go to the Labyrinth..
Anyways, I'm all over the place, it's sick.. xDD I'll go to bed, as I should've minutes ago..
Amen.
